On Tuesday night 17 Cheshvan HaRav Yehuda Leib Silver
zt"l was laid to rest in Tzfas after passing away at
the beginning of the week in New York.
Yehuda Aryeh Leib Silver was born in Brooklyn in 5706 (1946).
His father Mordechai named him after his grandfather, the rov
of Budeslav, a town in the Vilna area. His mother was the
daughter of HaRav Nosson Abrahams, a mashgiach and
maggid shiur at Yeshivas Lomzha in Poland and a
descendent of the Vilna Gaon zt"l.
As a young man he learned with tremendous hasmodoh
until receiving semichoh for horo'oh and
dayonus from his rabbonim and HaRav Moshe Feinstein
zt"l.
He served as the rov of several botei knesses in
Washington Heights during his lifetime, including Beis
Knesses Chevras Sfard, and gave many shiurim on Torah,
gemora and halochoh.
HaRav Silver felt ill recently and passed away suddenly at
the beginning of the week. At the cemetery in Tzfas he was
eulogized by HaRav Dov Kaplan, the rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas
Tzfas, and HaRav Boruch Chaim Feivelson, rosh yeshiva of
Yeshivas Nachalas Naftoli.
