HaRav Shabtai Atun zt"l
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Ozerov-Chenchin institutions in Bnei Brak recently sponsored
a series of events marking the 35th yahrtzeit of the
Admor of Ozerov-Chenchin, HaRav Moshe Yechiel Halevy Epstein,
zt"l, former President of the Council of Torah Sages
and author of the monumental Torah masterwork, the 11-
volume, Eish Dos and the 12-volume Be'er Moshe
on Torah and Nevi'im.
Chassidim and followers from all over Israel spent Shabbos
Vo'era in the company of the present Admor, listening
carefully to his words of Torah about the pressing need to
strengthen and continue the legacy of his grandfather
zt"l by studying his Torah and wisdom for generations
to come.
On the eve of Rosh Chodesh Shvat, a special seudas
mitzvah and siyum haShas was held in the Ozerov
Beis Medrash in Bnei Brak, attended by prominent rabbis and
chassidim who came from all over Israel for this special
event. Rabbi Asher Landau, a noted rabbinic leader in Bnei
Brak, completed the Shas in public. The honorary
president of Mosdos Ozerov, HaRav Moshe Yaakov Burak from
Toronto, Canada, also attended. The Admor spoke at length
about the previous Admor's greatness, and how he would devote
his undivided attention to every Jew's problem, large or
small, while personally feeling their pain and suffering. He
also quoted from the Admor zt"l's Torah, already
familiar to so many Jews from every community and walk of
life. The Admor encouraged everyone to strengthen his own
faith and fear of Heaven by following the Admor zt"l's
ways and by studying his Torah.
On Rosh Chodesh Shevat itself — the actual
yahrtzeit — chassidim, baalei batim and
talmidei chachomim visited the tzaddik's grave,
and joined in tefilloh on behalf of all of Klal
Yisroel, expressing the hope that the Admor zt"l
would intervene on behalf of the entire Jewish people for
sholom, parnossoh, health and happiness, with the
coming of the Moshiach and our spiritual redemption
speedily in our days.
Zechuso yogen oleinu, Amen!
