The Department of Chareidi Education at the Jerusalem
Municipality is responding to Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky's
call to improve the face of the city by executing renovation
work at selected educational institutions with the help of
various municipal departments.
Headed by Rabbi Binyomin Cohen, the Department of Chareidi
Education will invest extensive resources into replacing
playground equipment and improving the appearance of 60
kindergartens and 11 talmudei Torah and primary
schools.
In this phase, institutions in the area of Shmuel Hanovi,
Arzei Habira, Maalot Dafna, Bucharim, Beit Yisrael, Ezrat
Torah, Kiryat Sanz, Givat Moshe and Ramat Polin have been
selected for renovations under the Mayor's Merkazei Hachaim
Hashechunati'im ("Neighborhood Life Centers") project, which
forms a central component of his citywide improvement
program.
The centers the municipality plans to set up will include
public parks, playgrounds, walking routes, sitting areas,
unique lighting systems, and more. The Mayor issued
instructions to carry out the development work at
institutions located near the "Merkazei Chaim," continuing
projects begun last year.
The Department of Chareidi Education is performing renovation
projects alongside the development plans at other educational
institutions around the city. Deputy Mayor and Chareidi
Education Commissioner Rabbi Uri Maklev says the city
improvement project covers numerous areas of activity and
includes several learning programs on quality of life and
quality of the environment at chareidi educational
institutions. As part of one of these programs to be carried
out in cooperation with the communal administrations in
chareidi neighborhoods, students will adopt sites located
near the "Merkazei Chaim" and schools.
