Mayor Rabbi Lupoliansky Leads Integrity Survey

By Betzalel Kahn

The International Transparency Organization of Israel, which works to advance transparency and public ethics, released the results of a survey entitled Integrity in Local Government conducted by Dachaf in the country's larger cities. Jerusalem Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky received the highest marks with 70 percent of city residents indicating a favorable opinion and stood out for his honesty.

The objective of the survey, commissioned by the organization's Israel branch, was to assess how residents view public corruption in their cities and the extent of the problem.

The International Transparency Organization says it plans to conduct similar surveys every year to provide comparisons over time and wants to expand the number of cities and towns surveyed.

The organization also publishes the Corruption Perceptions Index and the Corruption Barometer every year. In last year's assessment Israel was 28th of 159 countries surveyed.
