Neveh Yaakov residents inaugurated the new neighborhood
eruv on motzei Shabbos Parshas Behar-
Bechukosai.
Many residents from the chareidi Neveh Yaakov Mizrach also
came to take part in the festive event, joining an assembly
of rabbonim and public officials led by HaRav Tzvi Weber, the
rov of Neveh Yaakov and a member of the Shearis Yisroel Beis
Din, who gave a charged talk about the importance of
eruvin.
Many chareidim are moving into Neveh Yaakov, which was a
completely secular neighborhood until a few years ago, and
this eruv — one of the most mehudar in
Jerusalem — adds an important spiritual building block
to the neighborhood.
Considerable effort went into the mechitzos to make
the eruv as mehudar as possible. The Eruv
Committee members, HaRav Gavriel Lombard, HaRav Sholom
Wolitzky, HaRav Eliyohu Rosenberg and HaRav Refoel
Goldschmidt, put their money and energy into the project,
which was supervised by HaRav Doniel Spetner, an expert on
hilchos eruvin, who worked indefatigably in guiding
its construction.
Neveh Yaakov residents say the eruv will strengthen
the neighborhood through the merit of keeping Shabbos and
will bring more families to join the hundreds of bnei
Torah families already making their homes there.
