Development
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Following numerous requests by parents and educators, the
children's department of Ezer Mizion has launched a lecture
series called "Me and My Child: Landmarks in Child
Development." The first event was held on 10 Iyar in
cooperation with the Schneider Children's Medical Center of
Israel, at Ezer Mizion's new center in Bnei Brak, drawing
many parents along with education, health care and welfare
professionals from Bnei Brak and the surrounding areas.
The evening opened with a lecture titled "Childhood
Development — Stages and Warning Signs," given by Dr.
D. Inbar, director of the Child Development Institute at
Schneider Hospital. The lecture dealt with different stages
and slight problems parents and educators should take note of
and try to solve. Dr. N. Naor, director of the hospital's
Premature Infants Unit, gave a lecture on developmental
landmarks and difficulties in caring for premature babies.
Child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. M. Karen ended the
evening with a survey, including an audio-visual
presentation, on the topic of eating and eating disorders in
small children.
The lectures conveyed an overall message that answers are
available for every question or problem related to child
development. Run by a staff of professionals, Ezer Mizion's
new information and counselling center is designed to provide
parents and educators with these answers, including
information on rights, educational frameworks, treatment
methods, medical contacts, treatment facilities, referrals
and recommendations. If necessary the center also provides
legal assistance for parents dealing with various authorities
and assistance in utilizing their rights.
