Another Letter Concerning Bais Yaakov

B'H, Tammuz 5766

Unfortunately it has come to our attention that the administration of one of the Bais Yaakov seminaries printed a pamphlet containing a hetter to continue chas vesholom the period of study (1-2 years) beyond 6th grade [Editor's Note: This refers to the sixth year of study after eighth grade]. We see this as a major blow to educating girls to build the kosher Jewish homes of the future and a direct violation of the fundamental idea of the original founders, the geonim and tzaddikim who trembled in fear [in their efforts to safeguard] the education and shleimus of the generations.

Therefore our opinion, daas Torah, is that it is prohibited for any administration or principal to take action to advance this idea, and parents who keep Torah and mitzvos must not come to terms with this very harmful stumbling block to the future building of young ladies and kosher Jewish homes.

Signing for the sake of Torah and Beis Yisroel,

Shmuel Halevi Wosner
