At the third yahrtzeit for Rabbenu Hagodol Maran HaRav
Shach zt"l, two volumes on Maseches Kesuvos
were published, adding to his other books on
Shas.
This prodigious project, along with the embellishment and
publication of his books, shiurim and handwritten
notes, began one year ago, based on a decision by gedolei
Yisroel who were Maran's talmidim. Two volumes on
maseches Bovo Basro were published previously.
The extensive project is also producing two other series:
Sifrei Avi Ezri al HaShas, which contains HaRav
Shach's teachings written in his own words, gleaned and
organized according to the pages of the gemora, and
also Shiurei Rabbenu Avi Ezri, based on cassette
recordings of the daily shiur and notes taken by
talmidim, supplemented with HaRav Shach's own
handwritten notes from different periods of his nine decades
of harbotzas Torah in Lithuania and Eretz Hakodesh.
To ensure that the books remain faithful to HaRav Shach's
teachings, HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman, his son-in-law and the
rosh yeshiva of Yeshivas Rashbi, is guiding the holy task,
which is being painstakingly carried out by a selected staff
of Rabbenu's talmidim headed by HaRav Avrohom Shmuel
Pappenheim. During the course of their work, the team of
editors received thanks, support and blessings from
gedolei Yisroel, including Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom
Eliashiv, shlita.
The first volume on Kesuvos, the maseches
studied at the majority of yeshivas this winter, is already
available. Part of the second volume, which is in the final
stages of editing, contains Maran's handwritten lesson notes
from 5681 (1921), including lessons on Kesuvos
delivered at Yeshivas Eitz Chaim in Kletsk 84 years ago.
This project is the central endeavor among all of the books,
booklets and memorial publications slated for publication as
part of various events in yeshivos and kehillos in
Eretz Yisroel and abroad, in the period surrounding Maran's
third yahrtzeit on Sunday, the 16th of Cheshvan.
Among the other new books about to be published are
Masores Hachinuch, which contains ten chapters of
Maran's teachings on every contemporary chinuch issue.
Published at the initiative of Talmud Torah Darkei Ish, the
book includes unique stories and instructions in
chinuch matters, passed on by top educators and
principals of institutions that were under Maran's
nesius.
