Tragedy in Jerusalem: Refoel Ya'ir Lupoliansky z"l,
passed away on his second birthday as a result of anesthetics
administered during dental treatment.
The toddler, the son of Rabbi Yaakov Lupoliansky and the
grandson of Mayor Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky, was taken by his
mother to a dental clinic in Ramot for treatment. The dentist
administered a sedative and began routine treatment. When the
treatment ended the dentist noticed that the child was not
responding.
Hatzoloh Yisroel volunteers arrived within minutes to take
the child to Hadassah-Mt. Scopus Hospital. When his condition
deteriorated the child was transferred to Hadassah Ein-Karem
where he underwent preventative treatment. Throughout these
procedures the family members remained at his bedside,
arousing rachamei Shomayim for the child's
recovery.
To the great sorrow of the family members and their friends,
on Thursday morning the child returned his soul to his Maker.
Refoel Ya'ir Lupoliansky z"l is survived by his
parents, his little sister and his extended family, all
shattered by the grim tragedy.
Many participants were on hand for the levaya that set
out from Har Hamenuchos, including HaRav Shmuel Auerbach,
rabbonim and public figures, relatives and friends. The
child's father, Rabbi Yaakov Lupoliansky, said Tziduk
Hadin as the large crowd shed bitter tears. The child's
grandfather, Rabbi Uri Lupoliansky, recited Kaddish
and then the child was brought to his place of eternal
rest.
