The Torah institutions of Kehilas Makava in the G Quarter of
Ashdod were honored by a special visit of HaRav Nissim
Karelitz, gavad of Ramat Aharon, Bnei Brak.
The visit began with Rav Nissim being honored to put up the
mezuza at the entrance of the beis medrash of
the Kollel Ha'avreichim Lemitzuyonim, wherein the best
yungerleit learn under the guidance of HaRav Moshe
Yosef Tishler, a distinguished halachic advisor from Bnei
Brak.
The ceremony was followed by a comprehensive tour of the
sophisticated Makava mikveh located on the ground
floor of the building, together with HaRav Meir Shlomo
Lemberger, the rov of the community.
During the tour, HaRav Nissim pointed out the special
halachic hiddurim that were instituted according to
Chazon Ish zt"l, with zriya and hashoka
according to all opinions -- as well as the adherence to
chumras of gedolei haposkim today who
supervised the construction during all of its stages.
HaRav Karelitz said that in our generation a mikveh
that is mehudar and beautiful is very vital and
important and that it is well known that the Chazon Ish
zt"l made great efforts all over Israel for this
important mitzvah.
The Makava institutions, including the beis medrash,
kollel avreichim, library and mikveh serve as a
Torah lighthouse in Ashdod and they are well known and well
thought of throughout the city.
