HaRav Hillel Lieberman, zt"l
By Betzalel Kahn
Thousands were on hand to accompany the aron of HaRav
Hillel Lieberman zt"l, one of the founders and molders
of Jerusalem's Beis Yaakov schools, a leading figure in
chareidi education for decades, the first director of Chinuch
Atzmai in Eretz Yisroel and one of the first Agudas Yisroel
representatives on the Jerusalem City Council, who passed
away following a short illness at the age of 98.
He is survived by his son, HaRav Yeshayohu Lieberman, a
prominent educator and director of the Merkaz Beis Yaakov
("Chadash") network of schools; four daughters, all reputable
educators married to HaRav Aharon Neiman, HaRav Aryeh
Weinberg, HaRav Zecharya Peller and HaRav Elchonon Fried;
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-
grandchildren (a fifth generation), all following in his path
of Torah and yir'oh.
We plan to include further details next week.
