Last week, the new yeshiva ketanoh building at
Kamenitz Yeshiva of Jerusalem was dedicated. Construction was
made possible by a generous donation by Mr. Yehoshua Tager of
London, after whom the building is named.
The reception for the philanthropist was attended by HaRav
Shmuel Auerbach, HaRav Yitzchok Sheiner and HaRav Boruch Dov
Lichtstein, the roshei yeshivas of Kamenitz, HaRav
Boruch Shmuel HaKohen Deutsch, one of the roshei yeshivos of
Yeshivas Kol Torah, and R' Tager's friends from Israel and
abroad.
The main speaker was HaRav Sheiner, who spoke of the gain of
the generous donor, who will take part in the merit of
hundreds of thousands of pages of gemora learned in
kedushoh and harchovas hadaas by the young men.
He also mentioned those who helped encourage the donor to
assist the yeshiva, which is among the most outstanding
yeshivas in Jerusalem, namely the Admor from Sasov,
zt"l, at whose home R' Tager was a frequent visitor,
and ylct"a HaRav Yisroel Yaakov Lichtenstein, an av
beis din in London whose grandfather was a talmid
and relative of HaRav Boruch Ber Leibowitz zt"l
the first rosh yeshiva of Kamenitz in Lithuania.
HaRav Auerbach tied the receiving of the Torah to the event
being celebrated to honor tomchei Torah, saying "Im
ein kemach ein Torah."
The donor drew his listeners' eager attention as he
enthusiastically thanked HaKodosh Boruch Hu for giving
him the merit to be among "tamchein de'Oreiso" and to
expand the halls of Torah in Jerusalem. He also pledged to
stand by the yeshiva in the future in the slated expansion of
its other institutions.
The Talmud Torah Kamenitz Boys' Choir performed at the event,
which was emceed by HaRav Yaakov Kraus, one of the
ramim at the yeshiva, who also had an important part
in fostering the donation.
