The bnei Torah public was delighted over the
publication of Sefer HaGilyonos, a compilation of
glosses taken from the margins of the seforim
belonging to Maran HaRav Shach, zt"l. The new book was
published by Yeshivas Rashbi under the guidance of the rosh
yeshiva, HaRav Meir Tzvi Bergman.
The 200-page book includes HaRav Shach's glosses on the
Mishnah Torah, the Minchas Chinuch and the
Ohr Somayach, which were published previously by
Machon Yerushalayim in Minchas Chinuch Hasholeim, in
addition to glosses on the Chazon Ish, taken directly
from the handwritten original.
The glosses on all volumes of the Chazon Ish were
found in the margins of HaRav Shach's personal copy of the
original Vilna edition after he sent the worn books to
genizah three decades ago.
The collection of glosses on the Chazon Ish was edited
by a team of HaRav Shach's leading talmidim led by
HaRav Mordechai Gross, ravad of Chanichei Hayeshivos
in Bnei Brak. The editing team spent long hours deciphering
the deep meaning of Maran's hasogos.
Sefer HaGilyonos joins a growing body of publications
of HaRav Shach's books, shiurim and handwritten
notations on the Shas, based on a decision by
gedolei Yisroel among his talmidim. The major project
includes Sifrei Avi Ezri Al HaShas, a compilation of
his written work, and Shiurei Rabbenu Avi Ezri, a
collection of his daily shiurim taken from cassettes,
notebooks and notes taken by his talmidim and
complemented by HaRav Shach's handwritten notes gleaned from
different periods during his 90 years of harbotzas
Torah in the major Torah centers of Lithuania and Eretz
Hakodesh.
The first two volumes on maseches Bovo Basra have
already been published and another volume on maseches
Kesuvos is scheduled for publication toward Elul.
Sefer HaGilyonos is already available in bookstores
throughout Israel and is slated to reach European and US
bookshelves during the coming weeks. Thousands of sets of
Sifrei Avi Ezri Al HaRambam were recently printed
after supplies were almost completely depleted.
