The ceremony for the R' Aharon Hacohen Foundation's annual
Keser Torah and Nezer Horo'oh awards was held Monday night at
the Ramat Tamir Hotel in Jerusalem.
The selection of award recipients was based on the
recommendations by leading Torah and horo'oh figures
after hundreds of candidates from around the country and
abroad were evaluated. The Keser Torah recipient was HaRav
Akiva Medlov, a talmid of Yeshivas Maoz Chayil and
Yeshivas Or Yisroel Petach Tikva, Kollel Beis Shmuel, Kollel
HaRav Moshe Gibraltar, Kollel HaRav Don Segal and currently
at Kollel HaRav Moshe Shapira in Jerusalem.
The Nezer Horo'oh recipient was HaRav Meir Eliyohu Steinberg,
a talmid from Yeshivas Karlin, Kollel Mir, Kollel Beis
Hamedrash LeHalocho headed by HaRav Ben Tzion Reich, Kollel
Beis Elchonon Dov-Botei Warsaw and currently at Kollel
Pressburg in Jerusalem.
The awards ceremony was held on the Chasam Sofer's
yahrtzeit and included a ceremony recognizing those
who completed the Foundation's five-year program and passed
the tests: HaRav Yeshayohu Kosovsky, who completed Keser
Torah, and HaRav Elimelech Kornfeld, the recipient of Nezer
Horo'oh, who serves as a moreh horo'oh and rov of
Kehillas HaGra in Ramat Beit Shemesh.
Also included at the event were divrei hesped for the
founder of the Foundation, the Admor of Rimnitz, whose
yahrtzeit fell on the same day. R' Avrohom Hacohen was
among his close talmidim.
The bill of events also included the annual completion of the
Shas. Dozens of avreichim who were tested
orally on the entire Shas took part. The project forms
yet another building block in the endeavors of Foundation
Chairman R' Avrohom Hacohen.
