HOME & FAMILY Waiting for Shabbosa story by Devora Halpern
This is Shabbos? Adi whispered, gazing at the moonlit
scene in wonder.
Of course, Adi knew what Shabbos was; she'd been keeping
Shabbossim for more than a year before she'd decided to study
in Yerusholayim. She liked the regular routine of the day,
the familiar foods and special songs.
Speaking My Mind
Sfiras Ha'omer -- an exercise in remembering. And even before
we reach the finish line, there are always the six Constant
Remembrances to bear in mind, which constitute Six Positive
Commandments. You'll find them in your siddur.
How many of them can you remember?
Something Sweet Who does not retain special memories from Pesach and family visits?
Stories or Lies? An articulate three-year-old comes home from nursery with some fantastic story which he has obviously invented. Mother enters into the spirit of the game and enlarges on it. E.g. "And then the elephant drank up everybody's milk and flew away, yes?" The child might deny this fact but in the end, they will both agree that it was fun. "Now tell me something interesting that really happened."
Doubts
My father-in-law, Pa, who had been helpless for years, was in
the hospital.
I had stayed for the night because he was very nervous. I
stood at his bedside, rearranging the bedclothes and
reassuring him in a droning, hypnotic chant that everything
was fine, that he was going to be well, that in just a few
more days he would be going back home again.
Your Medical Questions Answered! Back to the kidney. Kidneys can fail for mechanical reasons as well. Blood clots or a dissection (a tear in the wall) of the main artery supplying the kidney can cut off its blood supply, as can trauma. We already discussed low blood pressure as a cause.
