A unique project to spread the study of the laws of loshon
hora has been operating for the past seven years. The
project includes a program of tests on the laws of loshon
hora, and is organized for grades 7-10 in all the schools
for girls in Bnei Brak, Ashdod, Rechovot, Zichron Yaakov,
Hadera and in a large seminary in Yerushalayim.
This project is well known in all communities: Sephardic,
Ashkenazic and Chassidic. The project gets very positive
support from the principals of the high schools and
seminaries, and from the parents of the girls tested; all
testify unanimously to the powerful impact in keeping the
laws of shemiras haloshon as a result of the learning
done to prepare for the tests.
At this time intensive effort is being put into preparing a
rally, a special day during the coming Elul, dedicated
entirely to the study of these laws for the seminary students
who will be the counselors for the girls for the coming year.
Over 100 counselors will take part in this event, with each
one accepting responsibility for giving and checking the
tests in a class, as well as encouraging them in their
studies. Last year's counselors will also participate in this
program.
2000 girls are already registered for the coming school year.
They will take "tests" during the entire school year. After
each Shemiras Haloshon test, several lottery prizes
are given to the girls in order to encourage the girls to
continue their studies.
At the conclusion of registration, there will be an
introductory rally for all the girls. The rally begins with a
droshoh from an outstanding Torah personality with
words of arousal and encouragement on the importance of
shemiras haloshon. Afterwards there will be a slide
show on the subject. This rally has a profound effect on the
girls, gives them the impetus to apply themselves diligently
in their studies for the coming year.
The tests will soon be printed for the coming school year. If
you would like the name of a dear one to appear on the tests
for refuah sheleimoh or in the memory of a relative,
please call 03 - 6783323.
