Bombs in Rosh HaAyin and Ariel
by Yated Ne'eman Staff
Suicidal attackers rocked Rosh HaAyin, Ariel and all of
Israel as they murdered two and wounded at least 12 in the
first such attacks in the last six weeks. A terrorist in a
small shopping mall in Rosh HaAyin set off explosives
strapped to his body, murdering one and injuring at least 10
others. A short time later, another terrorist set off his
charge as he was being questioned by three soldiers, killing
one of them and injuring the other two.
In the immediate aftermath, no group claimed responsibility
for the attacks. Both Hamas and Islamic Jihad said that they
did not know who was behind them but that they remained
committed to the cease-fire. Nonetheless, Israeli security
forces said they had received more warnings recently of
attacks. As we go to press, the names of the victims have not
yet been released.
Israeli observers noted that several attempts at similar
attacks had been foiled by security forces over the past six
weeks.
