May a police investigator beat a suspected criminal in order
to elicit an admission of guilt? May one use sugar from a
milky sugar bowl for a cup of tea during a meaty meal? Do
metal fillings in teeth pose a problem regarding chometz
on Pesach?
These are just a few of the varied topics that are discussed
in the latest edition of the bi-annual periodical Kol
Hatorah, a publication that has become the standard
literature for the bein hazmanim and yom tov period
among bnei Torah all over the globe. But not only do
we find there practical halacha topics, there are also
hitherto unpublished shiurim by such giants as HaRav
Aron Kotler zt"l and the Telzer Rov, HaRav Avrohom
Yitzchok Bloch zt"l. And for those who like to hear
the voice of our gedolim concerning the present
times, we can find articles by HaRav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz
and HaRav Matisyohu Salomon.
The items on the menu of this lavish Torah banquet being
offered to the public are, as always, manifold, from
chidushei Torah on themes referring to the
forthcoming festive season and many other general topics, to
halacha issues pertaining to the world of commerce. Besides
that, the Daf Hayomi participant will, as always, be
enlightened by the special section "Simchas Hatorah," giving
a short insight into one of the topics relevant to the
current Daf for the next six months.
Kol Hatorah has over the years grown from a thin periodical
booklet into a veritable book, and is celebrating its
fiftieth publication in the forthcoming issue, a milestone
that has been acknowledged by a host of gedolim whose
blessings appear in a special Jubilee section. Furthermore,
the editors have started a new feature, "Pilpula D'Oraysa,"
that incorporates short interesting kushyos in the
vast field of the Talmud, and novel halachic queries.
Hopefully, the points raised therein will engender lively
discussion among the readers, which -- as its title
indicates -- is the real intention in this feature. Finally,
there appears in this celebratory section a selection of
letters by the unforgettable Admor of Pshevorsk, HaRav
Yaakov Leizer zt"l.
A perspective of the vast material covered in this
publication can be gained just by looking at the general
index of all the articles that appeared in the last ten
issues that the publishers have added at the back of this
volume.

Hatorah is reaching the public in good time for Yom Tov,
