A special meeting of the religious lobby of the Knesset was
held in the wake of a recent fatal traffic accident in which
small children were killed in Jerusalem. The meeting was
attended by representatives of the Transportation Ministry,
the Education Ministry, the Police Department and heads of
public organizations. Ways of eliminating the terrible
scourge of traffic accidents were discussed.
All parties agreed to increase the chareidi sector's
awareness of the importance of traffic safety, especially
among parents, teachers and students, and to obligate
educational institutions to include lessons for traffic
safety in their curricula. Additional directives to be
implemented by various bodies, including the Transportation
Ministry, were also discussed.
