Massive Shabbos desecration on a worldwide scale may take
place, Rachmono litzlan, on Shabbos kodesh, the
14th of Sivan, within the framework of an offensive
international event to be held in Jerusalem. At a press
conference in Tel Aviv, senior officials of Israel's Channel
One announced that the Eurovision song competition will be
broadcast live throughout the world.
The event is an international competition held every year in
the country which won first place the preceding year. Because
Israel was the winning country last year, this year's
competition will take place in Jerusalem's International
Congress Center, Binyanei Ha'Uma.
The competition itself will take place at 10 p. m. motzei
Shabbos, but rehearsals will be held on Friday and
Shabbos.
Chareidi public figures, who are upset enough by having the
questionable event in Jerusalem, palterin shel Melech,
stress that it will result in Shabbos desecration the likes
of which the city has not seen for many years.
"We will do our utmost to prevent this offensive event taking
place on motzei Shabbos and the rehearsals from taking
place on Shabbos kodesh," they said.
