Chinuch in Manchester recently benefited from the visit of Rav Shmuel
Strickman, Menahel of Darchei Torah, New York, and well known to those
who attend Torah Umesorah Conventions.
He was hosted by Bnos Yisroel Primary School where he instructed staff
in administering his unique krioh test and his method of teaching
Chumash.
The school invited all the local Menahelim, Rebbes and teachers to
take part in a very well attended short course on teaching krioh
and helping pupils of different ages with reading difficulties.
Rav Strickman heightened the awareness to continue reading practice
into adolescence, both in the Moissad and at home. He identified common
causes of reading weaknesses and the appropriate remediation. Being
greatly inspired by Rabbi Strickman, many Mechanchim proceeded to
attend his course on krioh testing in London.
In the evening, Rabbi Strickman addressed the parents of the community
on ways to be mechanech children to get actively involved with
and be sensitive towards those with various disabilities. His sound
guidance was based on chazal and illustrated with very moving
personal experiences.
At all sessions he answered questions with great expertise and practical
advice.
Rav Lehmann, the Principal of the school thanked Rav Strickman for
accepting his invitation and for the exceptionally informative and
stimulating lectures.
