Thousands of People Found Tzfas Closed to Vehicles

by Y. Ariel

A three-day secular musical event which took place in Tzfas caused much inconvenience to those who visited Tzfas on rosh chodesh Elul to daven at the graves of the tzaddikim there. Due to a decision of the municipality and the city's police department, the thousands of mispallelim who flocked to the city from all over the country had to park their cars outside the city's limits, and then, after paying 10 shekels, board busses taking them to the city proper. From there, they had to walk from the city's center to the graves of the tzaddikim.

This decision upset the mispallelim who come to Tzfas every year in honor of rosh chodesh Elul. Since so many people arrive in Tzfas for this purpose, and they include many elderly people and children, it is not reasonable to force them to march in the beating sun to the graves.
