OPINION
What is our True Protection?

by Yitzchok Roth

3

The evening of Sunday, sixth of Nisan, this year, the date of one of the most dramatic events in Israel and perhaps in the entire world. Over 300 missiles and drones were shot from Iran and its subsidiaries, all of them intercepted with no harm to lives and only minimal damage to property. This night followed an intensive security scrutiny on Iran and a full mobilization of all aerial defense systems, coupled with the coordination of Israeli supportive world allies. All were enlisted to foil the Iranian attack, and the consolidated efforts were far beyond all expectations.

It was a formidable weaponry show, not a single projectile causing any damage. Altogether, an amazing, incredible, unprecedented show.

A supernatural feat, a true miracle. Except, as often enough, the object of the miracle was unaware of its scope, and equally so, the State of Israel, which is still enchained in the coils of 'my strength and the might of my arm,' even after it was shattered to smithereens on the past Simchas Torah.

In contrast. one single missile shot from Yemen, made its way to Israel for many long moments. The security system noting its approaching course, attempted to intercept it, succeeding only partially, as it landed in open territory, creating a crater forty meters deep, emphasizing the scope of possible damage had it landed elsewhere.

What would have happened had the Hutim of Yemen not attempted to destroy a security base in the lowlands which failed, but had aimed to destroy one of the intensely inhabited areas like Tel Aviv, Rishon LeZion or Beer Sheva? What would have happened had they fired thirty missiles, rather than a single one?

After all, two weeks ago one drone which failed to be intercepted by defense forces fell in Tel Aviv center, killing an Israeli citizen in his bed. What damage would dozens of missiles have wrought had they been aimed directly at urban concentrations?

The latest occurrence is being examined by the security system. They are studying how the Yemenite missile escaped all aerial defenses, including the Arrow, David's Slingshot, Iron Dome and other such missile deterrents.

One must be totally blind to fail to see that beyond all such defense systems, the people in Zion have 'Iron Dome' security protection far more powerful and effective. This shield is the spiritual defense which has foiled heavy damage in the past, and this week, averted an equally menacing tragedy.

Every such miracle should open the eyes of those who should be critically aware of how we are able to survive only through miracles, precisely so that we be worthy of more such miracles. They should acknowledge them before the fact and realize that notwithstanding all the various means of defense, the true protection is provided by the 'Iron Dome' of the Torah scholars and its 'practitioners.'

Even if a physical eye does not discern this, still, the overt miracles accompanying this war should truly expose this to one and all.

Right Which is Left

Administrative detention is a drastic step which is taken in extreme circumstances. This arrest cannot be preceded with a subpoena, a judicial action and a punishment declared by a court. Such a step is usually served against terrorist suspects, whose evidence against them is undisclosed and whose exposure in court is liable to torpedo intelligence actions of security forces.

Under other circumstances, when there is information about suspects of forbidden activity, if the information does not endanger intelligence forces, there is no justification for an administrative arrest. A subpoena must be served, the matter be brought to the court and the suspects be given the opportunity to defend themselves against the charges against them.

Security Minister Galant has in his two year tenure in his office, issued 26 such orders against residents of Judea and Samaria. This is a peak of such actions which were not signed in the past even by security officials who were not from the Rightist camp.

We are the last to justify those foolhardy ones who abuse Arabs in the name of some ideology. They obstruct the activities of the security forces which have to deal with Palestinian terrorism on the one hand, and the vandalism of those same terrorists on the other. When civilians from Rahat accidentally enter the settlement of the Hilltop Youth and is brutally attacked by those inciters, simply because they are Bedouin, one must fully punish those rioters.
