Gaza was a Great Place to Live

Reporter Ro'i Yanovsky, has just returned from one hundred days of reserve army duty in Gaza. He wrote some of his preliminary perceptions from the sights he encountered.

These insights expose how Hamas has succeeded in deceiving the entire world about the situation in Gaza after the horrendous massacre which its people executed against those accused in a world court of genocide — these being the very victims of those villains.

Here are some of his thoughts:

People think of Gaza as a Third World country, the most congested in the world, which finds itself under Israeli siege.

There is no bigger lie than this. Gaza is a modern city, beautiful and developed, with large, well-appointed houses, wide avenues, public areas, a boardwalk to the sea and many parks. It looks much nicer than any other Arab city from Jordan to the sea. It resembles Tel Aviv much more than Kfar Kassam or Um el Fahem.

It is certainly far from being the most congested in the world. If this is a siege, let me live in such a siege. The homes are packed with all kinds of amenities and food from all the Middle East countries. The furniture is the most modern, its appliances of the latest models and what not? There are luxury homes which would not embarrass Savyon or Kfar Shmaryahu. Wealth is not lacking in Gaza.

All of the neighborhoods where we were stationed possessed stocks prepared by Hamas for warfare: weaponry, tunnels, rocket-launching equipment — all within lived-in homes complete with openings for speedy movement between the buildings. Gaza citizens living in fighting areas know this and they received innumerable warnings to relocate even before the IDF actually entered. Zahal leaflets are still everywhere. Those who decided to stay there in the fighting districts are either Hamas fighters in various roles or people who deliberately decided to remain, for reasons whatever they may have.

s The empowerment of Hamas at such a level demands active assistance from the populace. There is no chance that the residents in areas where we found rockets and weaponry were unaware that the place served as locations for firing rockets to Israeli territory, day by day. I find it hard to believe that parents of children in the kindergarten which had a tunnel shaft were unaware of it.

Which parent would choose to send a child to a kindergarten serving as a terror infrastructure?

Hamas' strongest weapon is propaganda and lies. This is their fuel. This is how they sustained the lie of 'the siege' for many years. This is how their reporters publicize photos of innocent victims and war damages — newsmen who turn out to be active terrorists.

Gaza is the only place in the world which reports of 500 deaths a mere half-hour after a blast. Even earthquakes or heavy accidents cannot produce reports of fatalities until days after, during which rescue teams have worked to identify and quantify the amount of victims, while the Palestinian Health Department knows the statistics of losses minutes after the rockets hit.

It is equally ridiculous and pathetic that the world media quotes such numbers as bona fide facts. This is the very same level of veracity which I attribute to the reports of starvation in Rafiach!
