President Herzog Visits the Rabbonim of Bnei Brak

by C. Honig

Within the context of President Yitzchak Herzog's visit to Bnei Brak upon the invitation of Mayor Avrohom Rubinstein to launch the present school year, he also paid his respects to our gedolei Yisroel in their homes, accompanied by the mayor and also by MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni.

Welcoming his guest into his home, HaRav Chaim Kanievsky blessed him with success in all of his righteous deeds, while also conferring a general blessing of refua sheleima for all the Corona victims and protection to those who should not be infected, while offering an overall blessing for a kesiva vachasima tovah for the upcoming year.

In the course of the visit in the home of the Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Gershon Eidelstein, the latter stressed to his eminent guest: "It is most important that the public be fully aware that the continuity of Jewish tradition is what binds our people together. Israel is but a minority of all Jewry, which mainly resides in the Diaspora and survives without assimilation, even without a homeland. The people have remained solid for millennia without intermingling. We are a nation unto itself, and this is thanks to the strength of the Torah and the power of tradition. It is vital for the public to hear the importance of Jewish tradition from the president himself, of Torah study, kashrus, Shabbos."

He also blessed the president with a good new year, and success in all beneficial works.

The president also paid a visit in the home of HaRav Shimon Baadani, member of the Moetzet Chachmei haTorah. Their talk also centered upon identification with Judaism and connection to the Jewish communities throughout the Diaspora in order to prevent assimilation.
