Ambassador Jofra with HaRav Chaim Kanievsky shlita

Ambassador of the European Union in Israel, Emanuel Jofra, visited the home of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky this past Monday and was duly impressed. He noted that he had heard a great deal about his leadership. He sought to learn more about the chareidi community in Israel from close up and also to be blessed by him.
Jofra noted that the European Union wishes to learn about this community in Israel and explained the various ways whereby the Union is fighting anti-Semitism in Europe in view of the drastic and disquieting rise of this phenomenon. He also said that the Union is investing many resources towards this and implementing many projects to upgrade Jewish life on the continent, including financing projects to restore Jewish cemeteries and to provide security measures for Jewish institutions.
"I enjoyed my visit to the home of Rabbi Kanievsky in Bnei Brak, and was especially moved by the blessing I received," he said. "It was important to me to express the desire of the European Union to strengthen the ties with the chareidi community."
