Rain and Kinneret Watch

by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff

Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret - 5780.

As of December 12 (14 Kislev) 83 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 81% of the average rainfall for this period and 15% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.

In most of the country the rainfall is about average rainfall for the period. The main rain months are December, January and February, so it is mostly ahead of us.

The current level of the Kinneret is -211.85 meters below sea level, which is ABOVE the lower red line of -213 meters. This is basically the level at which it ended last season. Relatively little water is taken out as the bulk of Israel's drinking water comes from desalination. Keep davening.
