42 Incidents of Vandalism In Jewish Cemeteries in Alsace

By Yisrael Rosner

In the past year and a half, no less than 42 incidents of vandalism in Jewish cemeteries took place in the Alsace region of France. The last one took place at the beginning of this month when swastikas and graffiti were sprayed on 107 ancient tombstones in the Jewish cemetery of Westhauffen.

The French Minister of Interior, Christoff Kastener, and the president, Emanuel Macron, announced that the French authorities launched an investigation to discover the culprits behind this vandalism.

Concurrently, CNN news made its own investigation to find out who was guilty of the defacement and destruction. Their findings were surprising.

A body close to the investigation told the CNN newsmen that "it is believed that local residents are responsible for the vandalism, but it is very likely that they were incited to do so by global Internet websites."
