Voting Results Prove Israelis Cherish Tradition
by Yisroel Rosner
The chairman of Degel HaTorah, MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, seemed relaxed. "According to the not-yet-final results, we have gotten a lot of votes from traditional communities on the periphery (away from the large concentrations of chareidim in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and the life). We got votes literally from all over he country. All this in addition to maintaining our strongholds.
"The most refreshing point in the current election results is that we see that Hashem does not abandon us. We see time and again that the Jewish fire has not died down and wherever we went to make our message clear and heard, we got new votes, especially from the small communities on the periphery. Aside from the benefits of additional votes and the declaration that they constitute of Kiddush Hashem, as maranan verabonon have said many times with regard to a vote for UTJ, the fact that we get votes and the faith of different groups in Israel is a great success., that is, not from the aspect of the sheer numbers but from an ideological perspective."
