Maran HaRav Chaim Kanievsky writing these answers
"Studying Torah" is the key to ward off the Corona virus; this was the message stressed by HaRav Chaim Kanievsky as the answer to topical questions addressed to him, as guidelines for roshei yeshivos, rabbonim, educators and parents. He wrote the following words this past Monday regarding our obligations during this period.
Replying to the question of how we can fortify ourselves and arouse heavenly compassion, he urged succinctly: "Through prayer."
In reply to the question posed by rabbonim and parents whether one should be wary of sending children to school [and refrain] lest they be contaminated [or quarantined], he ruled: "No."
Answering questions from rabbonim as to what was the supreme advantage for those exerting themselves in Torah study, he said, "Torah magena umatzela - Torah protects and saves."
An alternate view is that "Hashem protects the naively-innocent ones." Can one rely upon this and be lenient regarding self-protection? He said: "No."
When asked what was his advice regarding those who are incapable of keeping all of the safety rules, whether they should [be allowed to] pray in shul or with a minyan, he decided: "Let them pray at home."
What should one say to those who are afraid? HaRav quoted, "The sinful in Zion are fearful." [Note: This can also be interpreted to mean: Those who fear in Zion are sinful."]
What uplifting message can be derived therefrom? He replied, "There is a Ruler [a master of the Tower]."
He was asked: What is the best way to avert contracting this virus? His reply, "To study Torah."
Roshei yeshivos asked him: So much effort is required for us to get the students to succeed in their study! To what extent must we exert ourselves therein? He said to them, "There is no limit. Do whatever you possibly can. Let no one be "cursed for being deceitful or lacking in executing Hashem's labor" (see Bava Basra 21b)."
Parrying the question of the value of the study of young children during this period, he said, "The very world exists in the merit of the vapor issuing from the mouths of these tashbar babes (Shabbos 119b)."
