Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret -
5780.
The Israel Meteorological Service changed the way it reports its data so we are not sure if this data is continuos with what reported up until now. One thing is certain: it rained a lot in the last week. (The Kinneret level seems to be accurate and continuos.)
The Israel Metereological Service has changed their reporting and so far we have not found another source for weekly rainfall numbers. We hope to have monthly numbers next week. The level of the Kineret is current.
As of January 23 (26 Teves) 306 millimeters of rain had
fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season
(August 1 to date). This represents 121% of the average
rainfall for this period and 57% of the average rainfall for
the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.
In most of the country the rainfall is well ahead of average
rainfall for the period. The main rain months are December, January and February, so we are about half way through the season.
The current level of the Kinneret, updated as of January 30, is -210.325 meters below
sea level, which now less than 2 meters below the full red line of -208.8 meters. Hashem has been good to us in this area this year so far.
It rose a very nice 20.5 cm. over the past week. It might fill up this year, be"H. Relatively little water is taken out as the bulk of Israel's drinking water comes from desalination. Keep davening.
