Rain and Kinneret Watch

by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff

Our weekly report of the rain and the level of the Kineret - 5778.

As of January 10 (4 Shvat) 312 millimeters of rain had fallen in the Jerusalem area during the current season (August 1 to date). This represents 131% of the average rainfall for this period and 58% of the average rainfall for the entire season in the Jerusalem area which is 537 mm.

In most of the country the rainfall is above the average rainfall for the period.

The current level of the Kinneret is -213.9 meters below sea level, which is below the lower red line of -213 meters. The level rose 28.5 centimeters over the past week. It seems to be rising faster. Just to get to the red line we need to rise 0.9 meters. It looks likely that we will get that this season in a month or so.
