What is the Truth about Drafting Women in Israel?

Per public request, we present here the main points of the investigation publicized in the weekend Yated Ne'eman which again demonstrated the simple truth: There has been no change whatsoever in the army/draft status of chareidi girls, and following the procedural rules prevents unnecessary technical problems. Public representatives and seminary principals emphasize the responsibility placed upon seminary students and their parents to follow the procedures in submitting exemption forms.

"The Best and Happiest Life is One of Torah"

This week, HaRav Yaakov Nosson Dormashkin, Rosh Yeshivas Orchos Yaakov for French Jewry, visited the home of HaRav Gershon Eidelstein, requesting him to address his institution with a message of chizuk and blessing which will be conveyed directly to hundreds of his followers to strengthen Torah study. Facing and Overcoming Learning Disabilities in Cheder Children

by M. Samsonowitz

Attempting to Overcome the Apathy and the Stigma

The recent outpouring of articles about how to deal with an errant child fails to sufficiently emphasize that in the majority of cases, signs of warning were apparent years before. The late mashgiach of Yeshivas Kamenitz, HaRav Moshe Aaron Stern zt"l, used to say this in his own way, "People say, `Little children, little problems; big children, big problems,' but I say that if one takes care of the problems when they are little, they won't become big."

What is a Ben Torah?

By HaRav Shimon Moshe Diskin zt"l
Part II

In the first part, HaRav Diskin developed several important yesodos. The Torah is the blueprint of the world and what it determines, is what happens and how things work. If the Torah says that the color of techeiles brings one to think of Hashem, then the similar color of kolo ilan will not do, and anyone who tries to substitute the latter is denying the full Divine aspect of the Torah. Similarly, when Hashem said that the makkas bechoros would force Pharaoh to release Bnei Yisroel, it acquired the power to do so, and only it. Thus it was Hashem's ability to determine exactly who was a bechor that ensured that the makkas bechoros actually was what it was supposed to be and therefore that ability forced Pharaoh to release Bnei Yisroel. Also a ben soreir umoreh only becomes hopeless when he completely loses his connection to Torah. A ben Torah is someone who follows these principles and is completely formed by the Torah. "Anyone for whom the Torah is his only guide in all he does is a ben Torah."
