World Agreements are Really About Us

Notwithstanding everything relating to the summit between the American president and the leader of North Korea, HaRav Elchonon Wassermann wrote, in his time, that all international agreements are designed to address and affect Torah-true Jewry. He quotes the posuk, "When the A-mighty divided their inheritance to the nations, when He separated the sons of Adam, He set the bounds of the people according to the number of Bnei Yisrael."
As an example, he notes that the Versailles Treaty which had been written and sealed, had, indeed already been written in the Heavenly Court. "In Heaven," notes the Gaon of Vilna, refers to the Jewish people, for their benefit or otherwise. A Divine spirit accompanied the Gaon's words, for the Versailles agreements were the underpinnings of the development of World War II, with all of its harsh and devastating events.
These principles operate as well with regard to the summit convention, about which all experts know to predict that they will have worldwide repercussions. Let these thoughts be reinforcement to us and cause for heightened prayer, for "the boundaries of nations are established according to the number of Bnei Yisroel."
