Advice from HaRav Chaim Kanievsky for Bein Hazmanim

The Bein Hazmanim period requires an extra measure of "Torah protects and saves." These were the emphatic words of HaRav Chaim Kanievsky in a message he delivered to the rabbonim of Orchos Yosher headed by his devoted grandson, HaRav Arye Kanievsky, in a gathering at his home. Upon this occasion, they presented to him the sixth annual Orchos Yosher Torah journal.

This unique publication is presented to the public each year during the summer Bein Hazmanim and has since its inception been enthusiastically anticipated and received by the bnei Torah public and yeshivos as a very worthy and necessary booklet, expressly geared for this period in its format - a day by day schedule for study. It contains three sections: a daily regimen of Mussar study, a section for Halacha containing in brief the halachic rulings of the laws of brochos pertaining to all-purpose daily use, and a section of questions for intensive and challenging study. Some one hundred questions are presented covering all the chambers of the Torah where a Torah student can apply his wits and ingenuity in the pleasurable absorption of study even during vacation time, when traveling or relaxing in a country atmosphere.

HaRav Kanievsky received the publication with deep satisfaction and delved in it for a long time, after which he said:

"It is stated in Gemara Sotah that Torah protects and saves, but at a time that one is not engaged in study, it merely protects but does not rescue from sin. The bein hazmanim recess requires extra protection to preserve one's spirituality as well as to spare him from sinning in the material practical sense, so that when one is not actively present within the walls of the beis medrash, one must nevertheless be involved in Torah study. This book is very important and will surely help fortifying Torah during this period."
