Uprooting a Marriage Shows Halachic Incompetence

Another instance of falsely liberating an agunah from her state by a beis din that annulled the kiddushin retroactively through an afkinhu, something which is totally forbidden in these times per the ruling of our Torah leadership of current and past generations, raised a storm of acerbic protest in the world of Halacha and dayonus.

The Draft Law: HaRav Ezrachi Says that We Will Continue to Expand Torah

A serious controversy is roiling the scene in Israel. A government committee has made recommendations for a law to govern the status of yeshiva students in the wake of judicial pressure. However so far a consensus has not been reached in the chareidi community about how to proceed. Efforts are under way to reach a consensus, however. The Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel has expressed its disapproval of the proposed law. However individual gedolim who are members of Degel HaTorah's Moetzes have indicated that the proposal is acceptable to them with some changes.

Agudath Israel on US Immigration Family Separation Policy: A Moral Obligation
US Pull Out of the United Nations Human Rights Council

Agudath Israel of America expressed its deep concern and disappointment over the recently adopted policy of separating the members of families who have entered the United States illegally. It is a practice that has caused, and will continue to cause, profound suffering and pain to both parents and children. We implore that the policy be immediately rescinded, and that affected families be reunited. As of press time, moves were afoot to halt the practice.

by Mordecai Plaut

Our feature article "DNA and the Chain Of Tradition" this week reports on recent genetic research that shows that the Jewish people are genetically coherent and pure. The discoveries of molecular genetics and reading the code of the human genome have shown that the Jewish people are closely related to each other no matter where they lived for thousands of years. This is a kiddush Hashem of the highest order.

DNA and the Chain Of Tradition

by R. Yaakov Kleiman

Introduction

The field of genetics is experiencing a knowledge explosion. The Human Genome Project of the United States Government is analyzing and mapping the entire DNA of mankind. With this new information comes consequences. Improvement in health, longer life, gene-engineered food, genetic screening, and much more, are all areas of new power and concern requiring wisdom and guidance from our sages.

How Baalei Teshuvah Can Contribute to the Chareidi World

by HaRav Yehuda Greenwald

Question: What should be the attitude of baalei teshuvah who have entered the chareidi world towards avreichim (kollel students and bnei Torah)? Do baalei teshuvah have their own duty in the chareidi world?
