a tremendous kiddush hashem took place at the recent (sunday march 26) dinner of mir yeshiva of jerusalem marking its 200th anniversary of nonstop torah learning. yeshiva without interruptions.

The historic Torah gathering took place in Holmdel, New Jersey. In addition to the Torah elite of America, much of the staff came in from Jerusalem, including the Rosh Hayeshiva HaRav Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, as well as the roshei yeshiva HaRav Yitzchok Ezrachi, HaRav Binyomin Carelbach, and HaRav Nachman Leibowitz. Also HaRav Noam Alon, the rosh yeshiva of Mir Brachfeld came. Thousands of Torah supporters from all over the USA and Canada, as well as South America, attended.

These included, HaRav Yosef Elefant, HaRav Moshe Bienstock, HaRav Yitzchok Helman, HaRav Yehuda Wagschall, HaRav Shmuel Wolman, HaRav Binyomin Cohen, HaRav Yaakov Moshe Katz, HaRav Gedaliah Finkel, HaRav Shmuel Friedman, HaRav Nisan Kaplan, and HaRav Elimelech Reznick, and others. The experience recalled for many their yeshiva days, and they felt that even after they left the yeshiva many years ago, the yeshiva never left them. It was entirely appropriate that the commemoration of 200 years of Torah learning should give the Zevuluns of America a taste of the Torah of Yissochor that they so happily support.

After the shiurim, the entire audience heard a live broadcast of a special shiur delivered by HaRav Asher Arieli, whose regular talks are avidly heard by throngs of devotees. This one was transmitted directly from Jerusalem on multiple screens. At the end of his talk, he stressed the tremendous responsibility resting upon all those [businessmen] who toil for their livelihood to at least establish an ongoing commitment to make their Torah study primary and their work secondary so that the members of their household see and feel that the time consecrated for Torah study is without distractions and that those hours are the most precious hours of those who work for their livelihood. Thus will they and their families merit a special blessing of, "We have blessed you from the House of Hashem." His message was followed by the blessings of the elder of Mashgichim, HaRav Aharon Chadash.

Throughout the hours of this assembly, long lines wended their way outside in the plaza of the convention, as each one made a supreme effort to be privileged to write a letter in the Sefer Torah which was being donated in honor of the roshei yeshiva and which will enter the halls of the yeshiva in Yerushalayim. This is a show of esteem to the roshei yeshiva who toil to disseminate Torah and labor themselves with great devotion and dedication, through poverty and difficulty, for the many thousands of avreichim who populate the halls of Yeshivas Mir in Yerushalayim.

Towards evening, the thousands of participants congregated in a spacious hall to celebrate the dinner in honor of the revered philanthropists, devotees of Torah, with the participation of America's Torah leaders, its roshei yeshiva, who graced the dinner's table of honor alongside the Mirrer yeshiva's dinner heads, the central pillars of the yeshiva itself, who set aside precious time for the past long months to mobilize thousands of donors for the sake of the yeshiva.

The administrator of the yeshiva's office in the U.S., who is ultimately dedicated to the yeshiva with heart and soul, was honored to introduce the dinner chairman, the rabbinical patron Rabbi Rafael Hertzke, who proceeded to skillfully and amiably chair the event. He introduced the elder rosh yeshiva, HaRav Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rosh Yeshivas Philadelphia and member of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, who made a special effort to come specially to greet and bless the Yeshiva's roshei yeshiva and rabbonim, headed by the Rosh Yeshiva, HaRav Eliezer Yehuda Finkel, successor to his illustrious father, who was totally devoted with exemplary self sacrifice to Torah and its scholars. His words, listened to enthusiastically and intently, emphasized the great merit falling to the lot of the supporters of Torah who know how to value Torah, and conferred great blessing upon all of their undertakings. He blessed all of the bnei yeshiva, its heads and rabbonim with much continued success.
