The 94th Agudah Convention


The importance of a Torah-true Jewish identity was the focus of Agudath Israel of America's 94th National Convention, which opened on Thursday, November 17th at the Crowne Plaza Stamford. One of the important speeches was delivered by Rabbi Abba Cohen, head of the Agudah office in Washington, who warned about the serious erosion in religious freedom in America especially with regard to LGBT rights. Chareidi Education is Educationally More Successful than Secular Israeli Education

This week, Torah institutions were forced to deal with another lawsuit designed to undermine Torah education. The legal action was presented several months ago but this week, an outspoken reaction was voiced combined with a resolute stand upon the basic principles of Torah education. The document presented to the court sought to prove from professional conclusions of the Education Ministry itself that chareidi education enjoys a clear advantage over the secular one.

 

 

 

Gafni: Israel Economy Successful Because Government Supports Yeshivos

Chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee Rabbi Moshe Gafni happily reported that the chareidi representation in the Knesset recently added NIS 48 million to the government budget for yeshivos. He announced this at the Hamodia Conference for Business which took place this past Sunday 19 Marcheshvan at the Avenue Conference Center at the airport.

HaRav Gavriel Toledano zt"l

The world of Torah and yeshivos was plunged into mourning this past Thursday 16 Marcheshvan with the bitter tidings of the loss of the crown of Sephardic Jewry, HaRav Gavriel Toledano ztvk"l, Rosh Yeshivas Ohr Baruch and author of 10 volumes of Mitz'adei Gaver, who merited raising the banner of Torah for the Sephardi community by producing thousands of disciples. HaRav Toledano passed away in the seventy-ninth year of his life.
