Chovas Hasho'oh - What We Need Now

The eyes of Klal Yisroel are raised in hope for Hashem's salvation and it is clear that the closer we draw to Hashem in mitzvah-observance and Torah, the better is our chance for deliverance in ruchniyus and gashmiyus. One of the basic precepts of the Torah is unity and brotherly love between us all.

Sephardi Roshei Yeshiva Gather to Protest Yeshiva Draft

In an emergency protest rally which took place this past Sunday in Yerushalayim regarding the draft of yeshiva students, dozens of roshei yeshiva of Sephardic yeshivos met in answer to the call of HaRav Shalom Cohen, Rosh Yeshivat Porat Yosef of the Old City. He spoke clearly and sharply against the terrible decree. "We shall prove to them that the more we present a united front, they will have no power over us. Some think that we [the Sephardim] are a weaker link and that they will be able to draft us, but this is a grave error," said the rosh yeshiva.

"We Will not Allow them to Draft Even One Yeshiva Student"

In an interview with Yated Ne'eman, Rabbi Gafni explained the situation as of now, interpreting the methods of action which our gedolei Torah outlined, to all who may be concerned.

Preparation for the Delegation of Admorim to the U.S.

Preparations are in process for the upcoming visit of the members of the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudath Israel to America to arouse public awareness in the world about the religious persecution taking place in Eretz Yisroel through the draft law. It is hoped and prayed that its reverberations will effectively pressure the Israeli government to annul this difficult decree.

Art Must Not be Immoral

by Mordecai Plaut

Israel's ambassador to Sweden broke the diplomatic and artistic rules. In response to a work of art that consists of a photo of a smiling woman who murdered 22 people in a restaurant in Haifa, floating in a large pool of what is intended to represent Jewish blood, Zvi Mazel did not suffice with a polite diplomatic protest -- however strongly-worded -- but he actually ripped out some of the wires and tossed a spotlight into the basin.

All the material appearing in this article is taken from the new two-volume sefer, to be released in the next few weeks, containing hitherto unpublished or unavailable material, entitled Sefer Zikoron: Michtav Mei'Eliyohu. There are over 500 new letters of Rav Dessler, plus hitherto unpublished shmuessen and other material. There are also many ma'amorim that were written especially for these volumes, and works written about Rav Dessler that are not available elsewhere. Many of the letters contain valuable insights that are entirely new.

How to Cope with Suicidal Frogs

by Y. Wurzel

One of the most fundamental traits of all earthly creatures is the survival instinct. Every creature yearns to survive and devotes its full attention to the battle for existence it is forced to wage against all perils that pose a threat to its well-being. All living creatures have this trait in common: animals, beasts, birds, creatures that creep on the earth, and of course humans.
