The Tradition of our Rabbonim in How to Wage War

Regarding the approach as to the form of struggle regarding the decree of army draft of yeshiva students, we see that they are trying to drag our bnei yeshiva and avreichim into public demonstrations which can lead to violence. It is known that our Torah leaders are opposed to street demonstrations at this present time. In their opinion, the thrust of our battle at this point, before a definite political step has been taken, is to use non-aggressive means of effort, political means of persuasion, on the one hand, and reinforcement in Torah study by all bnei Torah and their adherents, alongside increased prayer before Hashem that He rescue us from this terrible decree. The method of public demonstration is reserved only for times of emergency — as our rabbis have instructed us.

Yeshiva Torah BeTifartoh

"You today have the privilege of doing something of lasting, significant value in the eyes of Hashem, and that is the establishment of a place of Torah where it can be studied in purity and sanctity without distortion." These exalted words were uttered this past Monday by HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman in an address to hundreds of talmidim of Yeshiva Gedolah Torah BeTifartoh which was founded in Ashdod. It was also attended by many local avreichim who came to hear the living Torah words and who expressed deep satisfaction at being present at this exalted occasion of the establishment of a pure place of Torah study in their midst.

HaRav Arye Leibish, zt"l, Rov of Vishnitza

In Honor of His Yahrtzeit, 17 Teves 5426

"Gaon Hador." This was the title given by the holy Chasam Sofer zt"l to Rabbi Arye Leibish.

As a young boy he learned under the Ketzos HaChoshen, Reb Arye Leib Heller zt"l, and it was there that he already became known as an illui — a genius. He was duly nicknamed Reb Leibish Chorif — the sharp one!
