Inauguration of Renewed Yad Sarah Emergency Center Al Pi Halochoh

by Yated Ne'eman Staff

Yad Sarah was the first in the world to create an Emergency Aid Control Center for the homebound. Today, as well, with many medical and professional companies marching behind, the Yad Sarah emergency center is still the only such service which operates according to the strict letter of the Halacha, under the guidance of the gaaved of Darkei Torah, HaRav Asher Weiss.

This center provides a solution for the elderly and solitary who live in constant fear of not being able to summon emergency help when they need it. Their families are equally concerned and make sure not to leave their loved one alone at any time. The emergency center provides each subscriber with a wrist alarm which requires merely pressing a button, which automatically rings at the headquarters. Upon receiving such a call, all the data of the subscriber appears on the screen of the monitor and the necessary aid is immediately dispatched to his/her home, be it doctor, ambulance, or alerting a neighbor or relative, according to need. The center operates 24 hours a day, every day, and subscription does not involve any fees.

Yad Sarah has been operating this service for over thirty years. Tens of thousands of homebound members are subscribed to it, providing them with a deep sense of security. It has saved lives numerous times. HaRav Eliashiv, who bore the responsibility of Yad Sarah upon his shoulders, and guided them along their path, detail by detail, wrote twenty years ago that operation this center is tantamount to saving lives every single minute.
