Nurturing Our Children, Ensuring Our Future — Thursday at Agudath Israel Convention

by Dei'ah Vedibur Staff

Ensuring the future of Klal Yisroel's mesorah will be the focus of the Thursday sessions at the 91st Agudath Israel of America National Convention. "Parents nowadays are trying to raise their children in the face of unprecedented challenges," noted convention chairman Hashi Herzka. "This year's Agudah Convention will deliver both practical guidance and spiritual chizuk to help fathers and mothers carry out their monumental responsibility of chinuch habbanim."

The Thursday evening plenary session, scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m., will be addressed by Rabbi Mattisyahu Salomon, Mashgiach Ruchani of Bais Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, Rabbi Elya Brudny, Rosh Yeshiva of Mirrer Yeshiva in Brooklyn, and Rabbi Yaakov Bender, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway.

Following the plenary session, there will be three "breakout" sessions on various aspects of the topic. Rabbi Shmuel Berkowitz, Segan Menahel of Yeshiva Mekor Baruch of Passaic, and Rabbi Moshe Weinberger, Rav of Agudath Israel of Flatbush, will discuss, "Our Children Our Future: Essentials for Successful Parenting." Rabbi Eytan Feiner, Rav of the White Shul in Far Rockaway, and Rabbi Yosef Veiner, Rav of Congregation Shaar Hashamayim in Monsey, will address the topic, "Successful Marriage, Happy Home." Rabbi Ben Tzion Kokis, Rav of Khal Zichron Mordechai in Monsey, and Rabbi Mordechai Twerski, Hornsteipler Rebbe, will focus on the topic, "When Our Children Build their Own Families: Maintaining a Kesher, Keeping a Distance."

A special panel discussion will take place prior to the plenary session, at 6:45 p.m., on the subject, "A Jew in the Business and Professional World: Actions, Perception and Kiddush Hashem." The panelists will be Shrage Goldschmidt, Charlie Harary and Avi Schron. The session will be moderated by Rabbi Aaron Kotler, CEO of Beth Medrash Govoha.

The evening will conclude with a kumzitz led by the well-known singer, Eitan Katz.

"This Agudah convention stands out. It is especially geared for emerging askonim and we look forward to the energy that is sure to arise when seasoned activists in our community interact with young leaders," said Avromi Hirsch, co-chairman of this year's convention.

The convention will take place at Hilton Woodcliff Lake in Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey from Thursday, November 14th through Sunday, November 17, Shabbos Parshas Vayishlach.
