London: Severe Shortage of Mehadrin Chickens for Pesach

By D. Rosen

Beginning the middle of last week, there were no fresh Mehadrin chickens to be had in all of the kosher butcher shops throughout London since at the last few slaughterings, 80% of the chickens were found to have serious kashrus problems in the ligaments (tzomes hagiddin).

The Kedassia Kashrus Committee is doing its best to overcome this shortage before Pesach sets in. Among other things, the possibility is being examined to carry on the shechitah in other European countries and export the chickens to London.
