Rededication in Yeshivos to Torah Study and Organized Prayers

The regular study sessions in the yeshivos are witnessing a remarkable rededication, while special prayers have also been organized in many communities for the salvation of Klal Yisroel in view of the threatening situation in Eretz Yisroel, as many cities and towns in the south are being ceaselessly bombarded. It is hoped that the renewed fervor of study and prayer will invoke Hashem's mercy for his people so that He protect us from all danger.

Operation Iron [Wedding] Canopy

In an unprecedented logistic operation, a luxurious and spacious wedding hall has just been opened on Rechov Shlomo Hamelech in Bnei Brak, especially for residents from the South, who will be able to hold their festivities there for free.

"Ibaneh" — New Umbrella Organization for Singles

The Bonei Olam organization has just formed a new branch for singles, Ibaneh. The parent organization is world famous for helping childless couples through support and medical referrals to the top specialists in the field, both in Israel and throughout the world.

Chareidi Cities Host Families from the South

Bnei Brak: Rabbi Yaakov Asher, Mayor of Bnei Brak, tells, "We have communicated guidelines to all educational institutions to accept children from southern cities, alongside which we must cope with a difficult problem since we have now changed status from an absorbing city to a city under attack. We have 16 kindergartens which are located in caravans, and which have therefore had to be relocated to protected facilities. At first, we began planning afternoon activities for the children, but have had to stop our plans because we cannot take the risk of the welfare and safety of hundreds of children gathering for activities in places which do not have a safe shelter.

A Letter from HaRav Chaim Kanievsky

Rabi Shimon may be relied upon in times of need (Brochos 9a) and Rabi Shimon is brought down in Sifrei Eikev (38) saying: It is not a Kiddush Hashem if the words of tzaddikim are fulfilled during their lifetimes and not after their death (and it cannot be thus), and therefore, when the Chazon Ish zt"l said that in Bnei Brak no bombs would fall, as testified by HaRav Elozor Tzodok Turchin zt"l, this will surely be fulfilled today and there is no reason whatsoever to fear. Letter from HaRav Moshe Eliashiv on Sunday 4 Kislev, 5773

I was told that a newspaper banned by my father, Rabban shel Yisroel, published an interview with me.

Be Not Proud of Death

by Mordecai Plaut

The European Union has long urged the Palestinians to halt terrorist suicide attacks within the Green Line and they are deeply involved in recent meetings between the Fatah and the Hamas in Cairo to arrive at some agreement to this effect. The European Union, pointedly, does not say anything about attacks on Jews in the West Bank and Gaza, implying that it is prepared for those to continue. What the Europeans who advocate this approach ignore, or choose to ignore -- or perhaps there is some even more sinister motive -- is that suicide attacks by Palestinians even on the West Bank are not only fatal to the attackers, but are also really suicidal for Palestinian society as a whole.

A Middos Workshop: Cooling Down the Angry Fires

Based on Shiurim of Rav Dovid Siegel

Part 2

Imagine you are a school principal, presiding over thirty teachers. Despite repeated reprimands, a certain teacher continues to arrive late every day. Or you are a loyal patron of the local greengrocer, where you have ordered for years. For the last two weeks, he has been sending you bruised apples and rotting lettuce. Or you are a conscientious parent, and little Shmuely keeps escaping your hand and running into the street.

Attention Deficiency and Hyperactivity Disorder

by Chaim Walder

A few weeks ago I was at a particularly loud wedding. You find an open seat right next to one of the orchestra's speakers and you know the night is bound to end with a splitting headache if this keeps up.

Self-Sufficiency - Histapkus

by Rav Yerachmiel Kram

"And He give me bread to eat and a garment to wear..." (Bereishis 28:20)

In his request, Yaakov Ovinu enumerates the purpose of the bread and the clothing. He stresses that his wish for bread is to eat and for clothing to be worn. This is in spite of the fact that it seems so obvious and thus superfluous -- for why else would a person want bread, if not to consume it? And what can he do with another garment if he does not need to wear it?

How I Loved Your Torah! -- HaRav Aharon Kotler, zt'l, 3rd Kislev 5763, Forty Years Since His Passing

by B. Re'eim

Introduction: Beloved of Torah and of the Torah World

"In the fusion of body and soul that comprises a human being, each part exerts an influence upon the other. When a person lives properly, conducting himself according to the Torah in every respect, even where no explicit command is involved, i.e. he fully observes the general commandment, `You shall be holy' (Vayikra 19:2), every force within him inclines towards goodness and reinforces a powerful desire for the spiritual. Many pesukim [in Tehillim] demonstrate this: `My soul thirsts for G-d' (42:3); `My soul thirsts for You" (63:2). Thirst is a physical longing -- evidently, the body also thirsts for Hashem.
