Massive Women's Rally in the Planning Re: Internet

by Yechiel Sever

Rabbinical representatives throughout communities in Israel are busy setting up direct broadcasting throughout the country for a massive women's rally planned for motzei Shabbos Parshas Vayishlach. The subject, safeguarding ourselves against technological threats, comes as a response to a call from our gedolei Yisroel via the Council of Community Rabbis, the Ve'idas Rabbonei Hakehillos.

The rally will include messages from gedolei Yisroel about the declared war against technological dangers which pose a dire threat to Jewish souls and undermine the foundations of the pure chinuch of our children, striking at families and destroying them. Addresses on the theme will be heard from educators and prestigious rabbinical figures from all religious circles about the importance of preserving the purity of our children's education while maintaining its high standard without resorting to Internet in any form. Guidelines will be presented on how to deal with this threat in the home and in work places.

The organizers of this mass assembly met in the home of HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman to receive his guidelines and direction. The Rosh Yeshiva was very emphatic about the importance of this holy battle, saying, "This gathering is crucial. The time has come to act, for the sake of Hashem, since this is the very preservation of lives."

Maran was asked in the course of the visit about holding such meetings in synagogues. He replied that such things are not the norm, but since this is a time for action, `Eis la'asos leHashem,' such gatherings can also be held in shuls and botei medrash.

The various rabbinical representatives who wish to organize or broadcast this rally live in their communities should contact the "Mercaz LeHagana Mipigei HaTechnologia" at: 1599-550-330.
