Intensive Preparation for the Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan World Prayer Day

In response to the directive from Torah leadership, massive preparations are under way for a universal Day of Prayer on Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan, the month when the Torah was given. This day has been designated for Jews everywhere to cry out and arouse Heavenly compassion in view of the persecution aimed against the Torah world through various harsh decrees. Uppermost is the impending threat of army mobilization of yeshiva students, calculated to forcibly eject them from their places of Torah. Also on the prayer agenda is a plea that Heaven halt rampaging disease in our midst and the danger of our enemies from without.

Demand to Establish Investigating Committee About the Meiron Transportation Snafu

There is an accelerating public demand for the establishment of a government investigative committee to study the mega-bottleneck created at the Meiron tombsite this past Lag B'Omer. Why weren't the police sufficiently prepared for the huge crowds which converged upon the site? It was the worst scene ever in Lag B'Omer annals, compounded by the disgraceful conduct of the police, who lashed out at innocent participants with blows, threats and curses. Then there were the thousands who were stranded in the blazing sun for hours (which alone could have resulted in casualties) due to the lack of transportation.

Palace of Judean King from the First Temple Era Discovered

In the course of a regular field trip of the Kfar Etzion school in the Hebron mountains, one of the guides identified a column with a special type of crown (Proto-Aeolic) which is commonly found in structures from the Bayis Rishon era. Such columns and crowns have been found at Hatzor, Megiddo and Jerusalem in areas that are known to date from the First Temple era. It was discovered in a cave in an area of Jewish ownership located however in a region within the limits of the Palestinian Authority.

Anomalies in the "Laws" of The Universe

by Dr. N. Vidal Introduction: In a Single Glance

"From the heavens, Hashem watched; He saw all the people. From the place of His seat, He supervised all the earth dwellers -- Who forms together their hearts, Who understands all their deeds" (Tehillim 33:13- 15).

Torah Will Not Be Forgotten

by Mordecai Plaut
Written ten years ago, this is fully applicable today. The only changes are to substitue "Yesh Atid" for "Shinui" and "Habayit Hayehudi" for "NRP."
It is clear that the scope of the cuts in programs that affect the chareidi community are focused and goal-oriented. They are an exercise in social engineering whose intent is to bring about sweeping changes in the lifestyle of the chareidi community in Eretz Yisroel. Those behind it want to "change" the chareidim from living spiritual lives "dependent" on government support programs and funding into "productive citizens" more involved in material issues who support themselves. Some of them probably even think that the chareidim will thank them after it is all over. However, this program rests on flawed assumptions and it will not work.

Time for Pleasure: The Mitzvah of Oneg Shabbos

by Rabbi Daniel Yaakov Travis Joyous Reunion

There was once a couple that shared such deep emotional ties, that others would use them as an example when wanting to describe an extremely intimate relationship. One day, much to their dismay, the ruling authorities assigned the husband to work in a distant land, forcing him to be separated from his beloved. Their only consolation was that once a week they would have the opportunity to be reunited.
