Finance Ministry Request to Reduce Tax on Non-Kosher Fish Rejected

By Eliezer Rauchberger

The Knesset Finance Committee unanimously refused to approve a Finance Ministry request to reduce the tax on non-kosher fish.

Committee Chairman MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni, who led the decision, said, "The majority of the state's citizens consume kosher fish, and no allowances should be made for tax reductions on non-kosher fish."

The Finance Ministry request applied only to non-kosher fish, while the same request calls for a customs increase on other products.
