120 Planners Gather for Conference on Ramat Beit Shemesh Dalet

A unique first-of-its-kind gathering was held this week for the 120
people involved in planning Ramat Beit Shemesh Dalet. Ranking
municipal figures addressed the planners, sharing their expectations
regarding the enormous neighborhood in the works. The conference was
initiated and led by the chairman of the Local Planning and
Construction Committee, Rabbi Moshe Montag, in order to speed up the
construction process.
The participants were employees from six architectural firms selected
by the Housing Ministry. Each is responsible for planning a sector of
the neighborhood containing 1,800 housing units. The respective firms
were asked to send full planning teams, from a chief architect in
charge of overall planning to various consultants involved in
infrastructure, transportation and landscaping.
During the conference the municipality's intentions were laid forth
clearly. Mayor Rabbi Moshe Abutbul and engineering commissioner Rabbi
Moshe Montag spoke about the general guidelines for the construction
of the neighborhood, with a focus on placing special emphasis on
meeting the chareidi public's requirements. Deputy Mayor Rabbi Shmuel
Greenberg told the planners about special needs related to education
and transportation, and the head of the water corporation, Rabbi
Yeshayohu Ehrenreich, discussed water and chareidi employment.
