Hundreds Protest Ongoing Jaffa Cemetery Desecration

Some 200 avreichim from Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Modi'in Illit and Beit Shemesh, led by HaRav Shmuel Auerbach shlita, took part in a protest Sunday against the ongoing desecration of the ancient Jewish cemetery in Jaffa, where contractors and officials show blatant disregard for the honor of the dead as well as the sensibilities of Jews around the world.

Jerusalem Municipality Insists: No Funding for Special-Ed Aides in Chareidi Schools

Education officials both in and outside of Jerusalem had harsh reactions after the Jerusalem Municipality callously decided not to restore funding used to provide aides for handicapped children enrolled in mainstreaming programs at chareidi schools, funding that was provided for years in the capital and remains in place in other cities. The outrageous move comes in addition to the budget cut for special-education bussing.


Rechovot Rabbonim Call for Boycott of Shweiki Concert

Rabbonim in Rechovot issued an impassioned called to boycott a concert by Yaakov Shweiki scheduled to take place in the city. Performances of this type stand in stark contradiction to Torah and halacha, and as such have been banned by gedolei Yisroel shlita.


Great Growth in Beit Shemesh

The new school year in Beit Shemesh will open with an increase of almost 15 percent in the number of chareidi students. About 2,500 new students will bring the total in the chareidi school system of Beit Shemesh up to 20,000 talmidim, kein yirbu.


Mearas Hamachpelah to Remain Open 24/7

During the seven of the Aseres Yemei Teshuva between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Mearas Hamachpelah will remain open around the clock. Yossi Dayan of the local Religious Council said, "During the month of Elul thousands come to Chevron, and especially during the Aseres Yemei Teshuvah.


Dirshu Launches Mishnah Berurah Study Program

Dirshu has launched dozens of daily shiurim on the Mishnah Berurah given by prominent morei horo'oh and rabbonim. Last week's launch of the program, which focuses on hilchos Shabbos, was timed to coincide with the start of hilchos Shabbos in the organization's Halacha Lebeis Yisroel program as well as the publication of Dirshu's third volume of its edition of the Mishnoh Berurah.


Antisemitic Attack in Kovno

The Jewish community of Kovno, the second largest city in Lithuania, were shocked by the antisemitism of anonymous vandals who left the head of a pig at the door of the local beis knesset.


Efforts to Avert Shabbos Desecration at Concert Outside Old City

Vaadas HaRabbonim Lemaan Kedushas HaShabbos and United Torah Judaism city councilmen met on Erev Shabbos Parshas Ki Seitzei to discuss ways to bring about the cancellation or rescheduling of a concert slated to take place on Motzei Shabbos Parshas Nitzavim-Veyeilech right outside the Old City, causing large-scale Shabbos desecration.
