Traffic Safety Campaign for Kids Under Way

By Yechiel Sever

The nationwide Zahav educational campaign is advancing to the next phase: starting this week Yated Ne'eman's Tuesday edition, which is distributed free to 135,000 chareidi households, features a two-page spread containing educational anecdotes, riddles, activities, comics drawings and more to foster proper road safety among children and teens.

Zahav, which stands for "ZeHirut Bedrachim," is being sponsored by Yated Ne'eman in cooperation with the National Road Safety Authority and local authorities including Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, Modi'in Illit, Petach Tikva, Haifa and Beit Shemesh.

Each week the campaign will focus on a different topic; this week, for example, the issue was crosswalks. All of the contents deal with the importance of road safety in accordance with halacha.
